Our paper bowls are an excellent environmental choice. Unlike traditional paper bowls that are typically lined with non-renewable petroleum based low-density polyethylene (LDPE), our bowls are lined with Ingeoâ„¢, a biodegradable and compostable plastic made from annually renewable corn.
Not only is Ingeoâ„¢derived from annually renewable corn, but it environmentally outperforms every major petroleum based plastic. Manufacturing of the new Ingeoâ„¢ plastic emits 77 percent less CO2 and consumes 56 percent less energy than the equivalent weight of PET.
The Ingeo™ lining is just one of our bowl’s “green†features. They are also made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper and are 100% biodegradable and compostable. FSC certification ensures that the paper used in the production of our bowls is harvested from responsibly managed forests.
If you wish to do more, consider diverting waste from landfills by composting used bowls. Note that composting is required for biodegradation. Our bowls will biodegrade in 180 days or less in a commercial composting facility but may take a year or more in a home composting system.
